An Average Day

People have tea or coffee in the cockpit as and when they wake up. Skipper will head off into town to shop for fresh bread and fruit for breakfast accompanied by anyone who wishes to look at the local shops.

We take breakfast to suit the guests, the weather and our chosen destination for the night. Then it's up anchor and off to find a good anchorage for swimming and general lazing around before lunch. This is usually taken on deck, underneath the awning, but occasionally we'll be somewhere that is irresistible and we'll all troop ashore.

The prevailing north-westerly wind builds during the middle afternoon that heralds the time for getting shipshape and ready to sail; off to our next port. Some of the very best sailing in the Ionian is in the late afternoon early evening.

Time now for a shower and then a favourite drink on deck before popping ashore in the tender (dinghy) where one can choose a local taverna and taste good Greek cooking. Most islands we visit will have a selection of bars and restaurants although there are some, where you will eat, drink and have coffee all at the same place. Then back to Tihama to relax in the cockpit again, contemplate the night sky and have a last nightcap before the lure of your bunk takes you below for a good night's sleep before starting all over again!
